Contact Needling - Traditional Japanese Acupuncture

Contact needling is a form of Traditional Japanese Acupuncture that seeks to bring balance to and strengthen the body by restoring the natural rhythms of the body. As a form of Meridian Therapy, it seeks to restore balance and health by reestablishing the proper relationships between meridian flows in the body.

Traditional Japanese Contact Needling utilizes the dynamic relationships between the meridians of the body, each of which relates to an elemental dynamic or phase. Water, Fire, Wood, Earth and Metal are the five elemental movements, which are seen as a reflection within us of the movement of nature around us.

These movements serve as a doorway through which we can understand the dynamic and complex relationships that form and animate the body, as well as the body's relationship to the greater movements of nature.

Contact Needling involves the use of special, thick gold and silver needles that are placed lightly on the surface of the skin, without breaking the skin.

Contact needling using these needles is very gentle and effective, able to powerfully restore balance to the body.

Since the needles are held for the duration of the session, the treatment can be conducted with precision, allowing the practitioner to fine-tune the treatment based on the body's response to each point, allowing for the greatest benefit in a gentle and effective manner.

It can be likened to a kind of dance between patient and practitioner, with each responding to the movement of the other, working together to reestablish the proper rhythm of the body in accordance with nature and the movement of the seasons.
